The Golden Gauntlet

The Golden Gauntlet Trailer and Roster Reveal

What We Did

A Premier Melee Event

The Golden Gauntlet was a premier Super Smash Bros Melee event that featured the game's top players competing in unique show matches. These curated matches were meant to maximize fan interest based on the previous year's most relevant storylines.

How We Did It

An Irreverant Love Letter to Melee

We wanted to take the idea of a Super Smash Bros event and mash it up with the over-the-top presentation of a WWE pay-per-view. From staging the tournament in a literal boxing ring to encouraging players to develop unique walk-ins prior to the matches, the idea was to crank up the dial to 11 in terms of absurdity and fun.

What We Made Happen

Two-Day Event Included:

  1. Saturday: Content capture day to grab quick turnaround social video and long-form content including player interviews and unique challenges.

  2. Sunday: A 7-hour live broadcast featuring show matches between 12 of the top players in the world.
